MLB The Show 20: How To Create An Entirely Fictional League
I cover sports video games.
MLB The Show
Sony has added the ability to completely rebrand every team in the major leagues in MLB The Show 20.
When you couple that with the game's already expansive create-a-player option, you have almost everything you need to create an entirely new league.
This MLB The Show 20 Project Requires Patience
Allow me to insert this disclaimer, this process can take a little bit of time. It's definitely a project, but if you're a pure fantasy guy or girl with an imagination, it likely appeals to you.
How to Find the Best Custom Roster in MLB The Show 20
The first thing you'll need is access to an excellent custom roster with fictional players. Bacon from the Operation Sports community has the best one I've seen. The players are realistic in name and attributes, and for the most part, all of the work is done for you on this side.
This is a snapshot of one of the players from Bacon's custom roster. His name is Edwin Rodriguez. I designed the uniform in the game's team rebranding suite.
Here is a look at one of the players from Bacon's fictional roster. It's Edwin Rodriguez. This is ... [+] the road jerseys for the Sacramento Shine I created with the custom team tools.
In the event you want to create a few of your own custom players, you can always edit some of the players in the roster, or you can create your own and add him to any team.
Thankfully, you can just go to the roster vault to download Bacon's roster and that will cut down on the time in a major way.

How to Rebrand Teams in MLB The Show 20
When it comes to rebranding teams, this has to be done once you're setting up your franchise mode.
When you're at the main menu, you select franchise. It'll ask you what kind of roster you want to use, and that's when you can load Bacon's roster.

You'll then see this screen which gives you the chance to swap out the existing MLB teams for a custom one. If you've already created a team and saved it, you can load your design set here.
By pressing R1, you'll be prompted to load or create your rebranded team specifics.
On this screen, you can name your team, choose colors and city at the Team Details tab. At View Logo Vault, you can grab a logo made by the community, or one of the pre-loaded ones from Sony.
At Logo Editor, you can create a logo from scratch or edit any one you've downloaded. The Uniforms tab allows you to use a template to design your home and away threads. At Stadium Select, you pick your team's home ballpark from any of the current, past, or minor league stadiums in the game.
Again, this is where we're missing the create-a-ballpark feature.
Every edit you'll make to your custom team happens here.
Here is how it should look after you rebrand your team:
The logo has been replaced, and the entire home and away jerseys, and ballpark has been set.
You'll essentially have to repeat that process for all 30 teams if you want to completely rebrand the entire league.
Choosing Your Settings for the Custom Leagues
Once you've rebranded every team, you can set all of the settings for your franchise. If you really want to create an entirely new world, begin the journey with a fantasy draft.
As I mentioned, this isn't a project for someone with limited patience or time, but considering what most Americans are faced with in light of the Coronavirus-related shutdowns, this might be the perfect pastime for a baseball fan and gamer.
